Here’s some steps to follow in doing your DIY Notices:
Step 1:
Read the guidance here
Step 2:
Access the example notices, templates and reply templates here
Select and complete the relevant notices with the clauses if applicable under the ACT (you can read the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 here).
Note: In the section that states,
In the event of any dispute between us under the Act, would you be willing to agree to the appointment of an ‘Agreed Surveyor’? we would be more than happy to be this Surveyor –
We would be more than happy to be this Surveyor however please contact us before serving to confirm our fee quote in the event the neighbour selects this option.
Step 3: Provide the neighbouring owner both options of consenting and dissenting under the ACT (where they require either a Schedule of Condition or an Award to be made prior to works commencing).
Step 4:
Post and obtain proof of postage along with a copy of your plans outlining the works which require notice.
Note: We don’t recommend recorded or special delivery because if there is no one at home to sign for, Royal Mail will not deliver the notices. No Notice – No ACT!
